The point of view could have flowed better as the narrative progressed, and I feel that the book could have used another round of editing, as there were some, admittedly, very small grammatical, capitalization, and formatting errors. Small as they were, I found them a little distracting.
The characters were fascinating and the pace quick. In fact, a little too quick in a few instances. These transitions, however, may have contributed to the unsettling nature of the story, so perhaps this was intentional.
My small criticism aside, this gritty story is a very good read and worth your time.

If you like this kind of drama, diving deep into the actions of the tragic characters, you might enjoy it.While it is compelling to see how these children "move on" after such a tragic loss, their poor choices and the events that led them into it didn't really captivate me. I didn't get a real sense of who they were, only what happened to them. I would have liked to see more redeemable traits and emotional conflict in their dealing with their past before the conclusion. There is an arc for the older brother, who picks himself up and becomes successful, thanks in part to a kind priest assisting the homeless and less fortunate.
